Medical Synergy Technologies Fuses Proprietary Technology Into Medical Dictation and Transcription System

Compression Algorithm Enables Remote Access, Secure Transmission of

Medical Data; Offers Applications to Broad Range of Industries

Medical Synergy Technologies (MedSynTech), a software firm that specializes in managing medical information, has developed a propriety technology to compress and transmit medical data over a single phone line -- from virtually anywhere, the company announced today.

MedSynTech is employing the compression algorithm in the firm's InFORM Medical Dictation and Transcription System, which enables radiologists to standardize diagnostic findings and eliminates the need to dictate and transcribe normal findings. InFORM is a key component of MedSynTech's Practice Performance System, introduced earlier this year.

"This technology will set the benchmark for how the medical industry communicates vital patient information," said Dr. Seth Borg, founder and chief executive officer of MedSynTech. "By compressing data into a manageable size, radiologists will be able to remotely access and transmit medical data to a referring physician over a simple phone line -- and incur no long-distance charges in the process."

When dictation and transcription are performed through conventional methods, turn-around time for patient reports can take anywhere from seven to 10 days. Employing MedSynTech's system dramatically reduces both the referring physician's waiting time as well that of a patient's by enabling the referring physician to provide information to patients within minutes rather than days.

Researchers at MedSynTech developed the compression algorithm as a solution to the company's need to provide timely and quick responses for remote transcription. The algorithm encrypts and compresses the data for transmission inside a virtual private network, and manages the transmission of information in accordance with FDA guidelines established for patient-confidentiality.

MedSynTech's patent pending technology has broad applications across many industries. The firm intends to continue its research and development in medical transcription and other types of compression and encryption technologies, while searching for partnerships and strategic alliances with companies that have parallel technologies or interests.
